Who am I?

The existential sound of the title aside, I should introduce who I am. My name is Jeff Gaynor. I was born on Dec. 21, 1960 and have had a special, currently experimental type of artificial hip put in. I have a resurfacing. This page is to help people who are suffering from the same condition I was (note the past tense!), suffering from osteoarthritis (OA) of the hip caused by mild congenital dysplasia.

Unlike a lot of folks who get this condition, I was a very active athlete and have returned to training. I am also a classically trained pipe organist. Playing organ requires a great deal of dexterity with the feet, since they must play the pedals, which is just a keyboard for the feet. I am back to playing organ regularly with no problems at all.

You can read up on a lot of the particulars about resurfacing at active joints, a site for younger patients who are having hip problems.
